About Us

The brainchild of Gavin Dutot, Maverick Arts mission is to allow anybody to experience the world of performing arts in a fun, supportive and inclusive environment.
Company history
Unlike many other amateur groups and drama schools, Maverick Arts has always kept its costs low. Because of this, we are able to offer free membership to all. With quarterly subscription fees starting at only £10, Maverick Arts is one of the cheapest ways possible to introduce young people to the world of performing arts.

Although we like to keep things full of fun, show rehearsals will be intensive and demanding, and run in as 'professional' a manner as possible.

This gives our young members a thorough grounding in stage techniques, and many have gone on to study various aspects of theatre work at College and University, and we even have former members appearing in the West End at present.
What we do
A typical year for Maverick Arts will involve 4 main shows. These will cover a range of styles, always trying to include at least 1 musical and 1 serious play each season, plus a pantomime of course!

We also encourage original works, and have recently run a successful "Inner Voices" 1 Act Play devised entirely by the cast themselves.

In addition, members may have the opportunity to take part in ad-hoc film projects. "Wraith" is currently in production under Gavin's direction, and Brawny is proposing shooting a new film over the summer, following on from the outrageously successful "Norwich & Saggers", which remains the only full length feature film to be completed by Maverick members..

We always do our best to look after our members, and as with all companies like this we have a strict child protection policy. Details of this can be found here.
